SAY NO TO DRUGS RACE HOLIDAY CLASSIC T-SHIRT DESIGN CONTEST
Media City Marketing Group is proud to announce sponsorship of a T-shirt design contest for the
Say No To Drugs Race.

CONTEST DETAILS:
The goal of this contest is to create a T-Shirt design to be used on our race t-shirt for the 7th Annual Say No To Drugs Race Holiday Classic to be held in Griffith Park 14 December, 2008.

The Race committee is looking for t-shirt designs which are not only meaningful and beneficial towards the message of the race but stylish so that race participants will want to wear them regularly.

We’ve created t-shirt designs for our past races in-house. We now want to put the challenge to you.

The top ten designs will be posted on our web site in a t-shirt contest gallery and will also be displayed for all to see at the race in Griffith Park.

The winning design will used for the race t-shirt which is given to all participants of the races and walk. It will be featured on the race web site. The signature of the winning designer will be included on the shirt as part of the design. The winner will win $250.00 to be awarded on the day of the race.

The first three runner ups will receive gift certificates from race sponsors. A brief bio of each artist will appear in the t-shirt contest gallery on our web site next to the submitted artwork for the top 5 designs.

OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES:
Starting on June 15, 2008 we commence the Say No To Drugs Race Holiday Classic T-Shirt
Design Competition. The following are instructions on how to enter your T-Shirt design.

To ensure proper notification in the case that you are selected as a winner, please send entries with your name and contact information (e-mail address and phone number). Entries should be sent as a jpg or low resolution pdf to:  tshirtdesign@saynotodrugsrace.org

Entrants may submit as many entries as they like as long as the entries meet the following criteria:

  • The design must somehow incorporate the race logo. The logo artwork is downloadable
    on the Media tab at the race web site: www.saynotodrugsrace.org.
  • The t-shirt design should communicate the Say No To Drugs message in a hip, compelling
    design.
  • The t-shirt design must not violate any copyright laws or trademarks of any kind.
  • Contest images must be submitted as a jpg or pdf file. (The final image used for printing
    will be a high resolution vector image.)
  • Entries can be hand drawn or created on the computer; A maximum of 3 colors to be
    used in the design; T-Shirt itself should be white.
  • The image submitted must be for the front of the t-shirt. It should be no larger than 11” X 11”
    and no smaller than 8” X 8”. The winning
    designer will be required to do the layout for the
    back of the shirt to include sponsor logos, names etc. (one color layout).
  • The design must be 100% your work; No copyrighted images can be used in anyway; Retain
    your hi-resolution vector image of the design as it will be required to produce the final artwork
    should you be the Selected Entrant.
  • By submitting your designs you give the Say No To Drugs Race, Team Against Drugs and
    Media City Marketing Group exclusive rights to
    use your designs for t-shirt designs or other
    promotional materials or uses in conjunction with the Say No To Drugs Race.
  • The t-shirt design contest is not open to race committee members nor anyone having familial
    relations to any race committee members.

The Contest commences on June 15, 2008 and all entries must be received on or before Sep 30, 2008 at 11:59 pm Pacific Time (PT) (the Contest Closing Date).

$250.00 will be awarded to originator of the winning entry at the race on 14 Dec 2008. Two runner ups to receive gift certificates from race sponsors. ($250.00 maximum is awarded to winning entry regardless of number of artists contributing to the design.)

All decisions of the Race Committee are final. The winner and three runners up will be notified via email.

The winning entry will be used on T-shirts, press releases and other promotional material to promote the Say No To Drugs Race Holiday Classic. There is no retail value to this portion of the prize.

ALL ENTRIES BECOME THE PROPERTY OF THE SAY NO TO DRUGS RACE, TEAM AGAINST DRUGS (Incorporated Non Profit) and MEDIA CITY MARKETING GROUP. NONE WILL BE RETURNED TO THE ENTRANTS.

The Sponsor and Race committee reserves the right to cancel this promotion at any time for any reason.
In the event of such cancellation, previously submitted entries will be returned to the entrants and the Race
will not retain any rights in the associated T-Shirt designs or exploit such T-Shirt designs in any way.

The prizes are not transferable, refundable, or redeemable for cash. The prizes must be accepted as described and as awarded and no cash option is available for the non-cash portions of the prizes.

If a Selected Entrant cannot be reached by 5:00 p.m. (PST) on Oct 1, 2008 or any prize notification letter or any prize is returned as undeliverable, or a Selected Entrant is unable or unwilling to comply in full with these Official Contest rules, the prize will be forfeited.

A complete list of the winners will be posted on the www.saynotodrugsrace.org website from approximately
Oct 01, 2008 to June 01, 2009.

THE FINE PRINT:
Note: All entrants acknowledge by entering this Contest that any T-Shirt designs created and submitted as part of this Contest cannot be used by the entrants (or others) for any other commercial purpose whatsoever other than to enter this Contest or for their own personal portfolio. By participating in this Contest, entrants acknowledge compliance with, and agree to be bound by these rules including the decisions of the judges, which decisions shall be final and binding upon all Contestants. Entrants release and hold harmless the Race and Race Sponsors and any Internet access providers, and their respective divisions, affiliates, related companies, directors, officers, agents, employees and all others associated with the development and execution of this Contest, from and against any and all liability with respect to or in any way arising from this Contest and the awarding, use, or misuse of any prize, including liability for personal injury or damage to property. The Sponsors are not responsible for entries which are lost, misdirected or delayed for any reason whatsoever including, but not limited to: technical malfunctions; human error; corrupted data transmission; interruption, deletion, defect or line failures of any telephone network, computer equipment, software or any combination thereof; CDs which are submitted by entrants which are defective or made incorrectly; any inability to access the site; or damage to a user's system occasioned by participating in the Contest. Sponsors are not responsible for lost, late, mutilated, misdirected, illegible, incomplete or postage-due mail of entries or if they violate third party rights or are otherwise not in compliance with these rules. Online entrants must provide a valid email address. In the event of a dispute regarding the identity of the person submitting an electronic entry, the entry will be deemed to be submitted by the person in whose name the email account is registered. No responsibility will be taken for any failure of the Contest website, or for any problems or technical malfunctions of a telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any entry to be received by the Say No To Drugs Race on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination thereof including any injury or damage to an entrant's or any other person's computer or property related to or resulting from playing or downloading any material in the promotion. The Race committee reserves the right, in their sole discretion, to cancel or suspend this Contest should a virus, bug or any other cause beyond the reasonable control of the Race committee corrupt the security or proper administration of the Contest.

Entrants hereby represent and warrant that all of the artwork included in their T-Shirt designs (other than any Say No To Drugs logos provided on the Website) are wholly original and that no design elements have been copied from any other source or otherwise violate any third party rights. The Race will not be responsible or held liable for any artwork which is included in any submitted materials which have been copied from any other source. All entrants to the Contest acknowledge that the Say No To Drugs Race, Team Against Drugs and Media City Marketing Group will own all results and proceeds including all copyright in and to the entrant's T-Shirt design (the “ T-Shirt design”) submitted hereunder. To the extent entrant owns same and to the extent said rights are assignable in their jurisdiction, entrant hereby assigns such rights to the Say No To Drugs Race Team Against Drugs and Media City Marketing Group in perpetuity. For greater certainty, for the duration of copyrights in the T-Shirt design, all entrants to the Contest hereby assign all copyright in and to the T-Shirt design and grant to the Say No To Drugs Race, and its affiliates, subsidiaries, assignees, licensees, and legal representatives, a worldwide, nonexclusive, royalty-free, irrevocable, right and license to (a) use, reproduce, distribute, store, transmit, broadcast, publish and publicly display the T-Shirt design, in whole or in part, and in any format and in any medium whatsoever known or as yet unknown as of the date hereof, including without limitation T-Shirts and other promotional items used by the Race (Including but not limited to, stickers, sweaters, hoodies, hats, etc. and all media used in the computer environment (b) modify, reformat, adapt and create derivative works based on the T-Shirt design . Entrant waives, wherever and to whatever extent such a waiver is valid, any and all moral rights in and to the T-Shirt design created hereunder. Entrant acknowledges that Say No To Drugs Race may commercially exploit the T-Shirt design in any manner it deems fit, with or without entrant’s name, now or hereinafter invented, without territories limitations, and that entrant shall not be entitled to any payment of any kind as a result of such exploitation. Entrant hereby agrees to indemnify the Race and Race Sponsors from any and all breaches of this section and any liability, costs or expenses associated therewith. All decisions of the judging panel are final. The chances of being selected depend upon the total number of eligible entries received and upon the decisions of the judging panel. This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial, state and municipal laws and regulations. No correspondence will be entered into except with the Selected Entrants. Selected Entrants will be notified within two (2) weeks of the Contest Closing Date. By entering this Contest, except where prohibited by law, the Selected Entrants consent to the use of their name, without compensation, in any publicity carried out by the Say No To Drugs Race, www.saynotodrugsrace.org and the Artist, in connection with the Contest in any and all media without territorial or time limitations, and they waive all rights with respect to printed, broadcast and other publicity.
